Choosing a School

Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. We know that you will want to research your options, and we are here to offer support and guidance.

Research your options

As a starting point, we would recommend visiting the OWN Trust schools' websites for an overview of what each school offers:

Visit a School

The best way to get a feel for the OWN Trust schools is to come on a visit. Our schools would be delighted to welcome you for a school tour, whether your child is considering moving schools or starting school in the next September intake.

Please see the schools' Admissions webpages for more details and to arrange a visit:

Spaces Available

OWN Trust Primary Schools admit children from Reception up to Year 6, with the hope to welcome Nursery aged children in the very near future.

This means that your child may start with the new reception intake in September, or move schools to join an OWN Trust School at any point in the year, depending on the spaces we have available.

The number of in-year places varies throughout the year. We always welcome new children joining our schools, so please ask us about spaces, and we will be glad to advise you.

For up-to-date information on the number of places available, please get in touch with schools during term time using their contact details below:

You can also contact the Local Authority Admissions Department on 01733 864007 for more information on spaces, particularly during the school holidays. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am - 2pm, or you can email admissions@peterborough.gov.uk.

Consultation on Admissions Arrangements

A consultation is required whenever there are proposed changes to admission arrangements, and at least once every 7 years, even if there is no change.

As required by the Admissions Code, the Board of Trustees of the OWN Trust consulted in the school year 2019/20 on its proposed admission arrangements for the school year 2021/2022.  The consultation closed on 12 January 2020.  No comments, feedback or objections were received. Our next consultation will take place in seven years from this date, unless proposed changes arise.

Our published admissions policy applies to all the schools in the Trust.  These schools are:

  • Orton Wistow Primary School
  • Woodston Primary School
  • Nene Valley Primary School

As required by the Admissions Code 2021, changes were made to the admissions policy to give equal standing to children previously in care in England and outside England.
