By Jan Neish, Governance and Compliance Manager, OWN Trust

The local governors, head teachers and staff from each of the three OWN Trust School met online for the Autumn Term Local Governor Body (LGB) Meetings.  The Nene Valley Primary School (NVPS) meeting took place on 4th November 2021, Orton Wistow Primary School (OWPS) on 8th November 2021 and Woodston Primary School (WPS) on 9th November 2021.

All LGBs had curriculum/subject presentations in the first half-term to get local governors up to speed with what is being delivered in classrooms.

Disappointingly, we were not able to return to face-to-face meetings this term, as cases of Covid continue very high across Peterborough. Kirsty Cleworth and Gordon Knibbs successfully negotiated their first meetings as LGB Chairs at OWPS and WPS respectively – all business concluded and finished on time. You can’t say fairer than that!

Sadly, Woodston’s Emma Harris has resigned from the LGB and colleagues’ best wishes for the future go with her. On a happier note, Nene Valley Primary School was pleased to welcome newly elected parent local governors, Anne-Rose Obidi and Thomas Musson, to their first meeting.

LGB strategic focus for this meeting was the use and impact of additional funding, and a discussion of out of school provision. LGBs also received safeguarding, SEND and forecasts reports, and discussed their SIP and H&S action plans. Some link roles have been swapped or tweaked as we move to a set of ‘core portfolios’ across the trust from next year.

The next Local Governing Body meetings are: NVPS 10 March 2022, OWPS 14 March 2022 and WPS 15 March 2022
