Local Governing Body Meetings - Summer term
By Jan Neish, Governance and Compliance Manager, OWN Trust
Local Governing Bodies met in June as part of their regular calendar of business.
Next year’s budget and the upcoming SATS outcomes were discussed together with a special focus on how the schools deliver the personal development element of the curriculum as this is one of the Ofsted judgement areas.
Local governors discussed how effective they feel they have been this year, leading to a commitment to visit the school more often as we are not yet back to where we were before the COVID-19 lockdowns.
The skills audit done in November reveals a good spread of experience and a strong skillset in each LGB.
Woodston local governor Sue Bester has resigned, while Nene Valley said goodbye to long-serving local governor Lara Sellars, and Orton Wistow had a farewell of their own as headteacher Simon Eardley leaves to take up a new challenge.

Nene Valley: Chair, Thomas Musson; Vice-Chair, David Morris; Safeguarding, Richard Isley; SEND, Sadie Wiles.
