OWN Trust SENDCOs Meeting
By Linda Harries, SENCO/Inclusion Lead, Orton Wistow Primary School (OWN Trust)
The SENCOs from the three OWN Trust schools have been meeting regularly since the Trust was formed. We try to meet each half-term. We create our agendas based upon current needs within one or all of the schools, initiatives from the DfE and the LA, and areas of interest of one or all of the SENCOs.
Our most recent meeting was on 6th October 2021. We were pleased to welcome Lucinda Robinson to this meeting. Rosie MacColl, Assistance SENCO at Orton Wistow Primary School also joined us.
The main agenda item was the opportunity to meet with Russell Postlethwaite, Educational Psychologist from Futures in Mind. Russell outlined what his company could offer as part of the Service Level Agreement that the OWN Trust schools currently hold.
We also discussed SEND related roles within each OWN Trust school, whether we could facilitate Webster Stratton Parenting Courses across the Trust and the Engagement Model/Pre-Key Stage standards. We would like to discuss this with Assessment Leads from the Trust schools as this is now statutory, from September 2021.
We have a Trust SEND Action Plan that we review regularly. This was drawn up by Jacki Mitchell, who leads on SEND, on behalf the Headteachers of the three OWN Trust schools.
We also meet biannually with Mary Foreman and our link SEND Governors. The next meeting for this group is on 11th November 2021.
