OWN Trust Trustees Meeting

By Mary Foreman, Chair of Trustees, OWN Trust

On 7th December, the OWN Trust trustees, the CEO and founding headteachers, plus representative of AZETS met virtually via zoom for the OWN Trust Trustees Meeting.

The main purpose of this meeting was to be presented with the Trust draft annual accounts and for the trustees to ratify them, and this was duly proceeded with. Trustees were delighted that there were very few items to be considered for the post-audit action plan.  Appointments were made to the Trust board as follows: Laura Holland as a co-opted trustee, and Mark Bewick, Karen Hales and Suzanne May to the OWPS governing body.

The chair of the Finance and HR Committee, Iain Ramshaw, received questions about the committee meeting held on 23rd November and the publication of Executive Pay information was agreed, alongside accepting the most recent management accounts. David Perkins presented the Risk Register annual report to Trustees and a wide-ranging discussion about current risks took place. He also gave Safeguarding Updates. Stuart Mansell, CEO of OWN Trust, presented his report.

Mary Foreman, Chair of OWN Trust and SEND Trustee, presented an account of a meeting held with SENCOs and SEND governors. SEND provision across the Trust schools is very strong with a wide range of expertise available to provide support for each school from within the Trust. Moving forwards, the Trust will be carrying out initiatives to improve SEND provision even further, and this will be progressed by visiting outstanding specialist provisions in the city and bringing areas of good practice back.

The Trust is excited about more opportunities to work with other schools in 2022.
