Peterborough Primary Headteachers' Day 05.06.25

By Fiona Schneider, Marketing and Communications Officer
The last Peterborough Primary Headteachers’ Day of the academic year took place on Thursday 5th June 2025. Sixty-five headteachers, school leaders, and local authority staff members attended the event, which took place at Allia Future Business Centre.
A variety of speakers provided informative and inspiring content for the day. There were updates on the Peterborough Youth Zone by Jane Wilkinson, Communications Manager – Growth & Regeneration PCC, and the Virtual School by Zoe Lattimer and Fran Haunch. There were also updates on Peterborough SEND by James Bird, Head of SEN and Inclusion & Katie Barnett, Head of Statutory Assessment and Monitoring PCC, Safeguarding by Rebecca Gibson (Peterborough Education Safeguarding Manager) and School Improvement by Carrie Traill, Nick Beech and Claire Drake from the Peterborough City Council.
The keynote speaker was Edward Watson from Inner Drive, discussing "AI in Education: Opportunities and Traps." It provided attendees with valuable insight into the growing area of AI and some efficiency-saving techniques to take away with them.
The overall feedback from those who attended was very positive with one attendee commenting:
“The days help me to make new connections and to develop my network of support as well as keep me up to date. The amount of interaction during some presentations and opportunity for questions I felt was really important this session and helped me to understand the direction of travel but also that as Heads, our opinions are valued. The AI presentation was also welcome from the perspective that, as a profession, we need to continue to evolve and when used well and with knowledge, AI can help us to do that”.
